Encourage Climate Education & Literacy

Environmental Graphiti has collaborated with professional educators to create TOOLKITS for teachers to adapt the art for educational programs.

In collaboration with the team at the UCI-Science Project* we have created two Toolkits targeted for middle school through high school:

Enliven Data with Art and The Power of Digital Storytelling, each of which includes the related guide for teachers.

*,,,The UCI-Science Project specializes in working with “… students, PK-12 teachers, and educational leaders to tackle 21st century issues using research-based approaches in science education. Our areas of expertise include specialized professional learning opportunities with your educators in collaboration with UCI faculty/staff and community partners, district partnerships for yearlong supports in identified areas of need, collaborative community outreach programs, and direct PK-12 student programming to bring science and engineering to our communities!”

In March 2025, the toolkit Enliven Data with Art was selected for inclusion by “CLEAN”.

“The Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness Network (CLEAN) Portal was launched in 2010 as a National Science Digital Library (NSDL) Pathways project. It is led by the science education expertise of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Science (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder and the Science Education Resource Center (SERC) at Carleton College. As of 2012, CLEAN has been syndicated to NOAA's climate.gov portal….

Digital educational resources that have been selected for the CLEAN Collection are aligned with the Climate Literacy Essential Principles or Energy Awareness Principles and passed through an extensive peer-review process to verify the accuracy and currency of the science.” To learn more about CLEAN and the selection process please visit: https://cleanet.org/clean/about/selected_by_CLEAN

Educators with the Oregon State University Smile Project** created a program and video that used the art for its network of participating schools.

**“(SMILE) is a precollege program at Oregon State University (OSU). Our SMILE Clubs are rural after-school programs that:

·       Help historically underrepresented students, students who are from low income households, and those who would be the first in their families to go to college gain STEM skills

·       Engages 4-12 grade students statewide in science, math and engineering year round

·       Provides professional development to a community of teachers

Create Custom Art

It may also be possible to create custom art from your own climate science data.
If this is of interest, please get in touch to explore potential opportunities.

How to use the art.

Here are some ways the art can be used. Be creative - we’d love to collaborate with you on furthering our mission to dramatize key facts of climate change through art, and encourage widespread understanding of the science it represents.

EDUCATION

Support and educate on science and policy using multimedia or printed art in schools/universities. Display the art on university campus campus spaces. Use art in environmental themed conferences or similar events.
